Stephen Bishop, Band Director
Mr. Bishop has been teaching at Taylor County Schools since 2004. He is a native of Greensburg, KY and received his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Music Education from Campbellsville University. While at CU, he served as both chapter and state president of the Collegiate Music Educator’s National Conference. He was principal tuba in the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and Orchestra, as well as tuba section leader of the Tiger Marching Band.
While at Taylor County Mr. Bishop’s bands have had great success. The Concert Band has received a distinguished rating at KMEA Concert Band Festival each year and the Marching Band is a perennial State Championships qualifier. In 2010 and 2016, the TCHS Marching Band was a KMEA State Finalist, and the band won the Mid-States Band Association Class AA Championships in 2011, 2014, 2015, and 2016.
Mr. Bishop has served as the Fourth District Band Director’s Association (FDBDA) All-District Chair, and is currently serving as the FDBDA President, as well as the Art/Humanities Department Chair at Taylor County High School. He has been selected as the KMEA 4th District High School Teacher of the Year, and has also received the Campbellsville University Excellence in Teaching Award.
Mr. Bishop is also a worship leader at Green River Memorial Baptist Church and has been married to his wife, Christina since 2001. They have 3 children; Madison, Noah, and Logan.
